Straighten Your Teeth Without Anyone Knowing

Straighten Your Teeth Without Anyone Knowing

Many people want straighter teeth, but they don’t want to commit to the appearance of a mouthful of metal associated with braces. Fortunately, there’s now an alternative that’s much more appropriate for older teens and adults: clear aligners.

Invisalign® is a system of customized clear aligners, which gradually move your teeth into a more pleasing and correct position. Dr. Thomas D. Sokoly and our team of Sokoly Dental explain more about how Invisalign can help you get straighter teeth — often without anyone noticing.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a system of clear, thermoplastic aligners. They’re customized to fit your mouth with your end goals in mind. Dr. Sokoly and our team take models of your mouth to create your aligners.

You switch out the aligners about every two weeks, which allows your teeth to move into a more pleasing and correct position. For optimal results, you need to wear the aligners for 20-22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, drink, and practice oral hygiene.

Most people wear Invisalign clear braces for about a year, although individual cases may take a longer or shorter time.

Conditions Invisalign can treat

You might think that your dental problems are too difficult to treat with Invisalign, but the treatment is surprisingly effective at treating a wide variety of dental problems, including the following:

Knowing if Invisalign is right for you

For Invisalign to be a successful treatment, you have to commit to wearing them for 20-22 hours every day. Only you know for sure what your habits are like, but most people can abide by the schedule. The only time you should remove them is to eat, drink, or brush or floss your teeth.

Your aligners are clear, so most people never notice you’re wearing them. This serves many people very well, especially if you’re a busy working professional or a teenager who is already somewhat self-conscious about your smile.

Invisalign treatment is a relatively fast process, especially compared to wearing traditional metal braces. Once you finish your treatment and your teeth are in their desired position, you can expect to wear a retainer for a certain amount of hours each day and night to keep your teeth from shifting back into their original position.

In addition, Invisalign is much more comfortable to wear than traditional metal braces. You don’t have to worry about your braces cutting the inside of your mouth or cheeks.
